Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:
- This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

- Must have experience developing and debugging with an embedded real-time OS such as VxWorks, ThreadX, uITRON, Windows CE/Mobile, or embedded kernel drivers for Linux.
- Experience writing embedded drivers in structured, state machined based, ANSI C code for power constrained mobile platforms such as a handset or DSC is high and experience in communication protocol software, such as for CDMA, WCDMA, GSM, 802.11, Bluetooth, or other wireless standards is highly desirable.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned: Responsible for overall requirements, modeling, design, development, and integration of portable Staccato’s UWB solutions on a one or more portable embedded platform. Work in a disciplined environment, including source code management, software design, peer reviews, coding standards, and unit testing.
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:
- A minimum of ten years of relevant embedded software development experience.
- Experience developing protocol software, such as for CDMA, WCDMA, GSM, 802.11, Bluetooth, or other wireless device standards is mandatory.
- Experience writing embedded drivers for an embedded USB host stack, USB host controllers and/or SDIO host controllers is desirable.
- Candidate should have excellent communication skills and excel in a team environment.
- Candidate must have experience working with an embedded real-time OS such as VxWorks, uITRON, Windows CE, or embedded kernel drivers for Linux.

Staccato Communications announces an opening for a Firmware Engineer. This is an opportunity to develop state-of-the-art wireless technologies based on Staccato’s single-chip all CMOS ultra-wideband solutions. In this position, you will design and implement embedded software to enable exciting new technologies based on WiMedia UWB, including Certified Wireless USB, High Speed Bluetooth 3.0, WiMedia Networking, and others.
- Embedded firmware drivers for USB host and device, SDIO device controller, and PCIe.
- Embedded firmware drivers for custom MAC components.
- Responsible for overall requirements modeling, design, development, and integration of protocol and drivers for WiMedia MAC, Wireless USB, Bluetooth 3.0, WLP/WiNet

Staff RF Engineer

As Staff RFIC Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for RF board design, debug and testing. You will work closely with the system and IC engineers debugging and testing single chip UWB systems. If you desire technical challenges and want to expand your knowledge, this is a tremendous opportunity. You will perform:
- RF system modeling/simulations for UWB radios
- Write specifications
- Work with RFIC designer to optimized the design
- Write test requirements
- Participate in design of test boards
- EM Simulate PCB designs when needed
- Participate in testing and debug in the lab
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in RFIC and Systems consumer product development, including experience bringing products into production
- Cascaded Receiver and Transmitter analysis (specifically direct conversion)
- Simulation of RF circuits and systems in tools like ADS
- PLL loop analysis
- Writing specifications and test requirements
- Basic understanding of how RFIC circuits work
- Basic understanding of digital signal processing and modulation (FFT, QPSK, OFDM)
- Tools: Experience with MS Excel, ADS and Matlab preferred; Basic programming experience in Matlab, Basic or C; Spectrum Analyzers; Network Analyzers

Engineer, Hardware Applications

The role will involve providing technical support on all hardware/RF aspects of Staccato Communication's UWB system. The evaluation and fault-finding of customers UWB hardware/RF will be required. Some customer visits will be necessary. Internal evaluation and analysis of existing solutions is also required. Although primarily hardware-oriented, the position requires a mixture of hardware and software skills. Strong interpersonal skills are a necessity.
- PCB designs for UWB applications for internal applications and customers
- Bench Diagnostic and Full debug on bench and in end system
- Customer support including travel (Worldwide). & documentation
- System evaluation & Characterisation of UWB solutions
- Aiding preparation and generation of product/Application documentation

Staff Engineer, Systems Architecture

- Identify appropriate architectural tradeoffs for high performance, low cost IC products. Develop methods and models to simulate and design the datapath of a high bandwidth wireless communications IC.
- Develop hardware and software specifications to ensure system throughputs in excess of 300 Mb/s while minimizing die area and power consumption.
- Develop system models including the effects of the MAC protocol, software tasks, and hardware accelerators; use these models to design and specify optimal system solutions.
- Work closely with the firmware implementation team and digital RTL design team to make sure the implementation is correct. • Work closely with the marketing team to finalize system requirements.
- Knowledge of popular interfaces including USB, PCI and PCIe. Experience with integrated circuit design.
- Prior experience in developing and architecting systems with similar requirements / constraints: high throughput and low power using a combination of software driven processors and hardware accelerators (such as network processors, graphics processors, etc).
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements:
- 10+ years experience in related field.
- Desired experience: Familiar with ARM processors, familiar with Verilog and SystemC, wireless experience.
Education:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering desired.
